Recently the South Australian Breast Cancer Study Group (SABCSG) spent an evening with ARC at our Tennyson Centre location.
Everyone was welcomed by the chairperson of SABCSG, Dr Bev Fosh and an introduction of the evening’s proceedings was given by Dr Phuong Tran, Radiation Oncologist, with ARC.
Guest Speakers for the evening were Dr Caroline Connell who spoke on Radiotherapy updates in breast cancer, which included recent research information, Dr Joshua Sappiatzer who presented on normal tissue sparing techniques in breast radiotherapy, such as DIBH (deep inspiration breath hold) and Dr Andrew Potter who gave us an insight into Stereotactic irradiation in metastatic breast cancer. All presenters are Radiation Oncologists, with ARC.
Following on from dinner and the well-received presentations, attendees went on a tour of Adelaide radiotherapy’s facilities, where they followed the patient’s journey from simulation to treatment. This is a fantastic way for all attending to gain a valuable understanding of not only the process of radiation treatment but also the immense detail that goes into planning individual, targeted, conformed, healthy tissue sparing treatment.
Adelaide Radiotherapy Centre would like to thank SABCSG for the opportunity to present and showcase our site.
